Quilt and Fabric Adoption

Have you recently come into possession of cherished hand-me-down quilts, linens, and fabric from elderly family members?

Do you need help finding the best way to care for these items?

Or are you seeking a dedicated place to donate these items?

Unfortunately, many of these treasures have been tossed in the trash, burnt, or donated to a thrift shop, forever to be forgotten. (I’ve heard many horror stories!)

I have a better solution: I will adopt these items!

As a lover of quilts, fabrics, and vintage linens, I have a collection from my family. These items were discovered after a family member died; most of the time, no one knew what to do with them. I have found this to be the case with other families as well. Thankfully, my family knew of my love for quilting and family history and passed the care of these items to me.

Like my own family treasures, I will lovingly do the same for your quilts, linens, and fabrics your family uncovers.

What you can expect:

The process starts with photos. Please send pictures of your quilts, linens, or fabrics to kr*****@cr************.com. I will respond within 48 hours with a plan. I will pay for shipping to my studio. If you wish payment for these items, I recommend contacting an appraiser to determine the value of the quilts, fabrics, or linens. *Include a link to appraisers*

I will gather as much information as possible on the history of the quilts and fabrics. If applicable, I will explore sites like Ancestry.com to learn more about the history, period, and location of the quilt maker, fabric, or linens.

The items will be meticulously stored in my studio using archival practices. I will take detailed photos of them and create a digital file of them, ensuring their preservation for generations to come.
I will share photos with quilt appraisers, the American Quilt Study Group, the Midwest Fabric Study Group, and quilt guilds if applicable.

When I can no longer care for these quilts, I will ensure they find a loving home by donating them to the appropriate organizations, such as historical societies, appraisers, or collectors. I will never sell them. They will be a cherished addition to my collection, to be cared for and admired.
